Baggies taste Orient victory

Goals from Pablo Ibanez and Chris Wood helped secure West Brom a 2-0 victory in their Carling Cup second-round tie at Leyton Orient. Scott McGleish had a great chance to put the npower League One club into the lead, but his low strike was turned around the post by Boaz Myhill. Only a fine save from Orient keeper Jamie Jones prevented Luke Moore from firing the Premier League side ahead in the 27th minute, diving to his right at full stretch. There was little the Orient number one could do when the Baggies took the lead shortly after. Sam Mantom whipped a free-kick from the left into the area, where former Spain international Ibanez guided a header into the far corner from 12 yards. West Brom should have gone 2-0 ahead when Wood knocked the ball down for Simon Cox, but he sliced the loose ball wide. But the New Zealand forward made no mistake when he cut in from the right to drill a low shot under Jones in stoppage time.
