Baggies on the slide - Morrison
West Brom winger James Morrison admits that Roberto Di Matteo's side are "on a slippery slope" after the FA Cup defeat at npower Championship side Reading made it six losses in a row.
Albion had suffered five consecutive Barclays Premier League defeats before the trip to the Madejski Stadium, but any hope of a return to form were dashed by Brian McDermott's in-form side.
Shane Long scored the only goal to send the Royals into round four, while the Baggies' woes were compounded by the dismissal of defender Jonas Olsson for two bookings within 15 minutes of coming on at the break.
Albion face a huge game next weekend against Blackpool and Morrison was in no doubt that Di Matteo faces a tough task to rouse his demoralised troops.
"We are on a slippery slope. That wasn't us out there and we are disappointed," he said. "We hadn't won in five before this and we are struggling in the league so yes, confidence is low, it's got to be.
"It's up to the manager to keep our spirits high. Obviously they are not now because we've just got beaten again. We wanted to get back on the winning track, but it wasn't to be. We've got to get back to what we were trying to do at the start of the season."
