Bony heads for Swansea

Albion look set to miss out on transfer target Wilfred Bony with the striker likely to join Swansea in a deal worth an initial £10.2 million.

The Baggies had identified Bony as a possible summer recruit after tracking the Vitesse Arnhem forward last term.

The Ivory Coast international scored an impressive 31 goals in 30 appearances last term and was seen as an ideal replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

However, Bony’s agent Francis Kacou confirmed to a Dutch newspaper that a deal had been struck between Vitesse Arnhem and the Welsh club. Personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Albion are believed to be in the market for up to two strikers this summer after Lukaku returned to Chelsea and Marc-Antonie Fortune’s deal expired. Wantaway striker Peter Odemwingie is also expected to leave and the club are now open to offers for Markus Rosenberg.
