Midfielder may switch to striking berth next term Somen Tchoyi may be deployed in a more central attacking role next season, Albion’s Assistant Manager Michael Appleton says. The tricky Cameroon international shone in an advanced central position in the second half against Newcastle United when he helped Albion fight back from three down with a hat-trick. The former Red Bull Salzberg man was initially brought to the club as a winger. However, his second half show at St. James’ Park has given the coaching staff at The Hawthorns food for thought. "He has played there a couple of times for Cameroon," said Appleton. "When they have played three up front he has started in wide areas but come into central areas. "He has looked a threat when we have seen him do that on international duty so it has been on our minds a little bit and we might have found a tool we can use for next season. "Newcastle was incredible and it was great for him. "In the first half he threatened a little bit in wide areas but as soon as we put him into central areas he caused havoc and he could have had another couple of goals. "He earned his matchball because he put a real shift in for us in the second half and the lads all appreciated that." Can Tchoyi play up front next season? Have your say at Baggies Banter here.
