Midfielder ready for first-team action after injury lay-off First-team coach Michael Appleton believes Giles Barns is ready to return to competitive action after his injury nightmare.  The talented midfielder has not played since rupturing his Achilles last August and has been working hard with Albion’s medical staff since joining the club a month ago. Barnes has now completed three full games for the reserves and has impressed Appleton with his attitude and application to regaining full fitness since linked up with the Baggies. "I think he is ready, from my point of view and what I saw on Tuesday," said the former Manchester United midfielder after the reserves’0-0 draw with Walsall in which Barnes starred. “I was delighted he got 90 minutes. He looked strong at times and I knew he was quick without the ball but I didn't realise he was that quick with the ball! "For me he is around about ready for a place on the bench. "Whether he gets that is a different question and one the head coach has to decide on. "But I'm sure he will be in our thoughts on Saturday in terms of being on the bench."
