Efforts increased to sign Kalou and Sinclair

Albion have increased their attempts to sign Scott Sinclair on loan and Soloman Kalou in a £2.6m deal.

Steve Clarke insisted Albion were doing all they could to attract new players after the head coach admitted he wanted to add four new players to his squad.

The Baggies initially tried to sign Sinclair on loan in January and have now prepared a season-long loan offer for the former Swansea City winger.

Interest in Kalou has also intensified but wages for the former Chelsea man could be a stumbling block. Kalou reportedly earns around £60,000 at Lille but would have to take a pay cut to join the Baggies.

Clarke has only added Nicolas Anelka to his squad this summer, but is refusing to push the panic button at Albion’s lack of transfer activity.

“We are pursuing a number of targets,” he said.

“Now whether they fall into place tomorrow or next week, no-one can tell, so you have to be patient.

“At the moment, I’m not nervous because I know the people we have in mind.

“They are good, realistic targets who haven’t gone anywhere else.”
