Striker set for talks after clubs agree fee Shane Long looks set to become an Albion player as the Baggies edge closer to agreeing a fee for the Reading frontman. The two clubs are believed to close to agreeing a sum in the region of £6 million pound for the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international. Long, who is away on duty with the Republic, this morning missed training and may have been having a medical with the Baggies. The former Cork City striker is reportedly been offered a four-year, £22,000 per week deal to join Roy Hodgson’s men. Hodgson has been a long-term admirer of the striker and revealed after the friendly against Parma that a deal was close. “We are working on things and we are still hopeful,” the Baggies boss said. “We need to be. We need to bring another quality striker in – that’s a given. “Everyone at the club is aware of that. But it’s not that easy. “We’re not taking someone who is out of work.” Will you be happy if Shane Long finally signs? Have your say at Baggies Banter here.
