Republic of Ireland international joins on free transfer Steven Reid will become Albion’s second summer signing after he agreed to join on a free transfer.  The former Blackburn Rovers ace has signed a two-year deal, with a year in the club’s favour.  Reid, who spent the final two months on loan at The Hawthorns, turned down another of other clubs to join the Black Country outfit after his contract at Ewood Park expired.  The Republic of Ireland international suffered a frustrating injury filled spell in Lancashire but managed to stay fit for the Baggies and featured eight times for the Throstles, netting once against Coventry.  "We're delighted Reidy has agreed to rejoin us on a permanent basis,” Baggies boss Di Matteo said. "He made a big impact last season - both on and off the field. "He was a consistent performer and also great in the dressing room. "Reidy's a really positive character - and you can never have too many of those in your squad. "Having spent the last six or so years in the Premier League, he knows the division inside out and that kind of experience could prove invaluable." The 29-year-old utility man holds exactly the type of experience Di Matteo is searching for ahead of Albion returning to the Premier League after making 113 appearances in the top flight, scoring eight times.
