Ashworth says club keen to extend star's stay Dan Ashworth has said that reports that star striker Peter Odemwingie has agreed a deal with Arsenal – or any other club – is mere speculation. The Baggies have been in discussions with the Nigerian international’s representatives over extending his Hawthorns deal – despite him having two years left. Newspaper reports had indicated that the Baggies had agreed a deal with the Gunners but the striker was unable to agree personal terms. But Ashworth, the club’s Sporting and Technical Director – who deals with the club’s transfers – says the stories are fabricated and have no substance. "Our aim is to retain our core players and try to strengthen our squad around them,” he said. "I want to make it clear that Peter Odemwingie is not for sale and remains a key member of our squad. "We have not received any offers for Peter and we have placed no valuation on his head. "He has two years left to run on his current Albion contract and talks over a new deal are ongoing." Reports that Youssouf Mulumbu is close to a £5.5 million move to Florentina are also incorrect. Do you think Odemwingie will be at The Hawthorns next season? Have your say at Baggies Banter here.
