Republic of Ireland international signs for a month Roberto Di Matteo has bolstered his selection options by signing Republic of Ireland international midfielder Steven Road on loan for a month. The versatile Blackburn man, who can play anywhere across the middle and at right-back, goes straight into the Baggies’ squad to face Queens Park Rangers tomorrow (KO 3pm). The 28-year-old has suffered a number of injuries in recent seasons but has now regained full fitness and will be available to face Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool, Swansea, Preston, Coventry, Reading and Leicester. “Steven is an exciting player and I'm delighted to welcome him to the club,” Roberto Di Matteo said. "We've been looking to strengthen our squad for the final push and Steven certainly fits the bill. "He's a versatile player with loads of experience. "We've had some great references about Steven so hopefully he'll perform at the level we expect him to."
