Albion enter Piquionne race

Baggies consider bid for Lyon frontman Albion have entered the race to sign former Portsmouth striker Frederic Piquionne.  The 31-year-old Martinique born man was on loan last season at Fratton Road where, despite being relegated, he still found the net an impressive 11 times. It’s no secret Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo is in the market for a proven Premier League striker with Piquionne, along with James Beattie, believed to be on Albion’s radar.  However Albion could face stiff competition for the signature of the frontman with West Ham and Fulham also reportedly interested in the former Rennes and St Etienne man.  Piquionne could be available for as little as £1 million and is believed to favour a return to the Premier League.
