Adaptability the key for Di Matteo

Boss pleased as Baggies battle back for point Roberto Di Matteo praised his side’s adaptability after their footballing philosophy was cast aside to earn a last-gasp point.  The Baggies struggled throughout on an uneven Vicarage Road surface and fell behind to an excellent Danny Graham strike five minutes from time. However, not for the first time this season, Roberto Di Matteo saw his players battle back to snatch an equaliser after Chris Brunt headed home from close range.  The important point moves Albion to within two points of gaining automatic promotion with four games left. "It was an interesting game today," said the Italian. "Credit to Watford - they really brought the game to us. "The pitch probably helped them more than us because it was quite impossible for us to get our game going on this pitch. "But it was exactly how you expect games to be when you play against teams that are fighting against relegation. "We had to adapt on a terrible pitch. "In the second-half especially we changed our philosophy a little bit. "It was impossible to play because the ball was bouncing around randomly. "It was a great strike by their player for their goal. "We were brave enough to put bodies forward towards the end and if the game had gone on longer we might have had more joy. "But a draw was a fair result."
