Baggies make solid start ahead of Premier League kick-off Kidderminster 0 Albion 3 The Baggies kicked off the pre-season fixtures with a short trip to Aggborough.  Backed by a bumper following of Albion fans, the Throstles got off to a winning way thanks to goals from Ishmael Miller, Roman Bednar and Abdoulaye Meite.  Pablo Ibanez made his first start as Albion wore their new black away kit for the first time. VVV Venlo 1 Albion 2 During Albion’s only game on their tour to Holland, the Baggies maintained their winning start to pre-season.  On a pitch you’d usually find at your local park, goals from Ishmael Miller and Gabriel Tamas secured victory.  Bristol Rovers 0 Albion 1 Graham Dorrans’s first goal of pre-season maintained the Baggies’ winning streak.  On their return to England after the Dutch training camp, Roberto Di Matteo was forced to play young striker Marcus Haber as the lone striker due to a number of injuries.  As a result, the Baggies lacked a cutting edge up front with Rovers coming close to equalising on a number of occasions. Doncaster Rovers 1 Albion 0 Albion’s winning run came to an end at the Keepmoat Stadium.  Dean Kiely was given his first pre-season start with Roberto Di Matteo again missing a number of first-team players through injury.  Chris Brunt missed a golden opportunity to give the Baggies the lead after missing an open goal with a header before Rovers took the lead.  Dean Sheilds jinked around Gianni Zuiverloon and curled the ball around Deano to give Albion their first taste of defeat. Coventry 1 Albion 1 The Baggies made the short trip down the M6 to the Ricoh Areana.  Former Blues winger Gary McSheffrey gave his new club the lead in the 15th minute, cooly slotting home under Scott Carson in the Albion goal.  The Baggies were much improved after the break and Ishmael Miller continued his good form in front of goal equalising with a header.  New signing Boaz Myhill came on to make his Albion debut.  Albion 1 Osasuna 1 In Albion’s only home fixture, the Baggies were only minutes away from finishing on a winning note.  James Morrison’s exquisite flick gave the home side an early advantage in the 15th minute.  In the Baggies best performance of pre-season, Jonas Olsson’s needless shirt-pull on Soriano saw Oier slot home the resulting penalty past Boaz Myhill.
