Werder prepared for Ozil bids

Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs is bracing himself for a series of offers from some of Europe's major clubs for World Cup star Mesut Ozil.

Barcelona and Manchester United are two reported suitors following the 21-year-old's impressive performances for semi-finalists Germany in South Africa.

"I can already think that we will have offers in the next few weeks or just before the transfer deadline from a number of clubs," said Allofs, who has previously stated that the midfield playmaker is not for sale at any price.

"If something concrete comes, we have a duty to talk to Mesut and his advisors and to see what they want.

"We will not change our policy. We cannot afford it."
