Pizarro revels in cup finales

Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro is delighted with the way his return to Germany has worked out this season, as he prepares for two cup finals.

The 30-year-old Peru international is preparing for a UEFA Cup final appearance this week, with a German Cup final against Bayer Leverkusen also on the horizon.

Pizarro, who has scored 28 goals in all competitions since joining Bremen on loan from Chelsea, told UEFA.com: "I came back because I know the coach, I know the club and they were willing to put their faith in me.

"I think every player will give you a different answer. For me, it is important that a coach shows faith in me and Thomas Schaaf does exactly that.

"Having the chance to play in the Champions League was also very important. Unfortunately we didn't do well in the Champions League, but we have reached the UEFA Cup final and the German Cup final, so that is great.

Bremen will face Shakhtar Donetsk in Istanbul without suspended duo Diego and Hugo Almeida, while Per Mertesacker is out due to injury and Frank Baumann remains doubtful.
