Pizarro expects title challenge

Claudio Pizarro believes Werder Bremen can mount a serious title challenge after returning to the Weserstadion on loan.

The Peru striker has returned to a club where he scored 29 goals in 56 games during a two-year spell after securing a season-long loan escape from Chelsea.

The 29-year-old struggled to break into the first team during his one season in England, but is delighted to be back at a strong Werder side who he has tipped for honours this year.

"I wanted to fight, but then (sporting director) Klaus (Allofs) came and told me all about Bremen," he said.

"A lot has changed and I think Werder have improved in a lot of areas and the team has a lot of quality.

"I want to win things and that is why I am here."
