Ozil could be on his way out

Werder Bremen have admitted their hopes of keeping hold of talisman Mesut Ozil appear to be over.

Werder general manager Klaus Allofs has admitted the club are struggling to come close to reaching an agreement over a new contract and, with the 21-year-old's current terms expiring next year, the Bundesliga side are looking to cash in on their prized asset.

He said: "In our talks we have not found a solution. It is a situation we must accept.

"I expect bids in the coming weeks or just before the end of the transfer market.

"We'd rather not see him leave on a free transfer next year."
