Frings faces spell on sidelines

Werder Bremen captain Torsten Frings faces a spell on the sidelines after tearing a muscle during the 2-2 draw with Nuremberg.

Head coach Thomas Schaaf is unsure how long Frings will be out of action for after he picked up the injury in the 71st minute of the draw.

"He will be out some time," confirmed Schaaf. "We will do everything we can to keep the break as short as possible. He has given his all and has enjoyed a very good season."

Former FC Twente star Peter Niemeyer is expected to deputise for Frings during his absence.
