Frings considers MLS move

Werder Bremen veteran Torsten Frings has suggested he will consider moving to Major League Soccer should he fail to win a new contract at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, who has been with Bremen for more than a decade, would love to remain at Weserstadion, but with his current terms set to expire in the summer, he is considering alternative options.

With Frings openly admitting New York is a favourite destination, he could join former Barcelona duo Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez at New York Red Bulls.

"I will definitely have one or two [more] years playing football," Frings said.

"Werder Bremen is for sure my first choice [but] if I leave, it will not be for another German club. The United States, it excites me. I am fan of America, and New York is my dream city."
