Bremen show interest in Ben Arfa

Werder Bremen have entered the race to sign wantaway Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

The 23-year-old France international has been heavily linked with a move to England to join Newcastle United in recent weeks, but that deal now looks to be dead in the water.

However, Marseille chairman Jean-Claude Dassier has confirmed that his club will consider an approach from Bremen, who have just sold Germany international playmaker Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid.

Dassier told L'Equipe: "If Ben Arfa and his agents are happy to do that, that would be no trouble to us.

"We even believe that the German league would be better suited to him than the English league."
