Bremen rule out Ben Arfa deal

Werder Bremen's sporting director Klaus Allofs has played down rumours linking his club with a move to sign Marseille's France international midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.

The 23-year-old has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Mesut Ozil, following the Germany international's big-money move to Real Madrid.

Allofs told Sat.1: "We do not need a replacement for Mesut Ozil.

"While we always look for players to improve ourselves, Ben Arfa is not one of them."

Marseille chairman Jean-Claude Dassier had earlier suggested that Bremen were keen on the talented winger, telling L'Equipe: "If Ben Arfa and his agents are happy to do that, that would be no trouble to us.

"We even believe that the German league would be better suited to him than the English league."
