Bundesliga top-flight side Werder Bremen said on Monday they have extended the contracts of coach Thomas Schaaf and sporting director Klaus Allofs through to 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Bremen currently stand fifth in the table and the club are pleased with the job the pair are doing, chairman Willy Lemke said.

"We are delighted to be able to continue with a duo who have shown their ability -- Christmas has come early," said Lemke.

Schaaf, who spent his entire playing career with the northern side, and Allofs, who ended his playing days there after starting out with Duesseldorf, have been in charge since 1999 and won a league and cup double in 2004.

Schaaf, 49, whose contract had been due to expire at the end of the season, is the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga.
