Double celebration for Carlisle's Charlie Wyke

A hat-trick from birthday boy Charlie Wyke helped Carlisle into the FA Cup third round as they romped to a 5-0 win at Welling.

A positive start from the non-League underdogs came undone when Jabo Ibehre stole possession on the half way line and fed the ball into the path of the onrushing Wyke to confidently slot home.

Penalty appeals by the home faithful were waved away when George Porter was bundled over by Mark Ellis and things got worse for Loui Fazakerley's side on the stroke of half-time.

The Wings defence struggled to clear a Carlisle corner and, after several blocked efforts, Ibehre's fierce drive fortuitously deflected off team-mate Antony Sweeney and into the top corner.

Six minutes after the restart the contest should have been over after Ibehre was fouled inside the box, but Mike McEntegart got down well to save Danny Grainger's penalty.

Unfortunately for the goalkeeper he could not repeat his heroics as Grainger made amends for his earlier miss, slotting home from the spot following Harry Osborne's red card for a foul on Sweeney.

And there was still time for Wyke - who turned 23 today - to steal the headlines, adding his second after 70 minutes before securing the match ball late on with a cool finish from Patrick Brough's cross.
