Tommy Smith will not be allowed to leave Watford on the cheap.[LNB]The forward, who has 18 months left on his contract, is already the subject of  transfer gossip.[LNB]A fee in the region of £1million is being bandied about for the 28-year-old's services - but the Hornets are determined to stick to their guns.[LNB] Wanted man: Tommy Smith scores for Watford against Norwich[LNB]With new boss Brendan Rodgers still to sign a contract, Watford's decision-makers  are aware of the valuation that has been placed on Smith - and want far more.[LNB]They fielded a £2.5m enquiry for the player last summer - believed to have been from Blackburn Rovers[LNB]. And Stoke City[LNB]are reportedly interested in swooping during the January transfer window.[LNB]But the club are anxious not to be held over a barrel and will hold out for at least a similar amount if they are forced into cashing in on one of their main assets.[LNB]Rodgers confirmed last night he has yet to sign his contract, adding: 'There are a couple of bits and bobs to get around and the time scale has been difficult. How long will the contract be for? Twenty years!'[LNB]Jokes aside, though, Watford chief executive Mark Ashton is set to be next out as theboardroom battles go on. [LNB]It is understood Ashton's exit will pave the way for Jimmy and Vince Russo to be re-elected to the board.[LNB] Watford 2 Norwich 1: Keeper Marshall gifts Rodgers a win[LNB]Let me stay at Derby, says on loan cup star Ellington[LNB]Rangers on lookout for mole after tip-off at Watford[LNB][LNB] [LNB]
