Younes Kaboul could make his Watford debut against Gillingham in the EFL Cup

Younes Kaboul could make his Watford debut against Gillingham in the EFL Cup following his switch from Sunderland.

But fellow new signing Roberto Pereyra is awaiting a work permit having completed his move from Serie A champions Juventus.

Summer arrival Isaac Success could be involved if he can shake off a hamstring problem but Ben Watson is still suspended.

Defender Craig Cathcart is confident his side's fitness will improve over the next few weeks after they took one point from their first two league games.

"Fitness might come into it a little bit, but it's still early in the season and we're all finding our feet," he told the Watford Observer.

"The games come thick and fast so over the next few weeks I'm sure it won't be a factor at all."

Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh will be looking to make changes to his side, after being left "stunned" by their 5-0 loss to Scunthorpe on Sunday.

Midfielder Bradley Dack should be available after making the bench on Saturday. Dack was an unused sub after recovering from a knee problem.

Scott Wagstaff could also make an appearance, as he is back in training and continuing his recovery from a calf injury.

However this EFL Cup tie could come a little too soon for Bradley Garmston, who is still recovering from a knee injury.
