Late check for Ekstrand

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola will check on defender Joel Ekstrand ahead of his side's Capital One Cup clash with Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old missed Sunday's draw against Nottingham Forest with an ankle injury he picked up during the 3-3 draw with Reading the week before.

Ekstrand has made good progress in his recovery and could be ready in time to play some part against the Cherries.

Tommie Hoban (ankle) and Nyron Nosworthy (Achilles) remain out but Zola has no fresh injury or suspension concerns.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe could make a number of changes for the trip as they look to avenge their 6-1 defeat at Vicarage Road earlier this month.

Defender Elliott Ward is available again having missed Saturday's 5-1 loss to Huddersfield after his wife went into labour, and the former Norwich man's return gives Howe another defensive option.

The likes of Marc Pugh and Charlie Daniels will hope to start while Matt Ritchie is edging closer to a first-team return after injury.

Forward Wes Fogden made his return from a heel injury in a midweek development squad friendly and he could come into contention if Howe decides to rest a few regulars.
