Watford manager Malky Mackay was delighted with the performance of centre-half Martin Taylor after the Hornets secured a 2-0 win against Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Taylor's arrival on loan from Premier League side Birmingham City has tightened things up at the back and he is finding form alongside captain Jay DeMerit.
The big defender scored the crucial second against Gary Johnson's Robins and the Hornets are now up to 11th in the Championship table.
Speaking to reporters, Mackay said: "We have lost one goal in three games, so it looks like we're sealing it up at the back and also getting on the scoresheet as well.
"Martin probably allows Jay to not have to be the lead central defender.
"You saw again when they put pressure on, that Martin gets his head on an awful lot, he gets into the right areas and he's also comfortable on the ball."
