Striker target for Hornets

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd accepts that his side need to climb the Premiership table to be able to attract new players in the January transfer window.

Boothroyd's top priority is a new striker, with Marlon King set to miss the rest of the season, but the Hornets boss knows results will dictate what standard of player he is able to target.

He told the club's official website: "We need strikers, but if we are not doing well in mid-table it will be hard to attract decent strikers to a small club like us.

"The reason players come here is because they see a group of people who want to move forward.

"People want certainty and not many will take a calculated risk. Half the clubs that come up go down straight away. We don't want to be a yo-yo team."
