Saints may struggle to keep McInnes

McInnes has been strongly linked with the vacant manager's position at Vicarage Road following the departure of Brendan Rodgers for Reading. Brown is hopeful the former Rangers midfielder will still be at St Johnstone to lead the club in their first season back in the SPL but knows he could struggle to hold onto his man. Brown told the Press and Journal: "I expect Derek to lead us into the Premier League. He has done a very good job and the one we expected when we took him on - even if we were criticised at the time for opting for a so-called cheap option. We want to keep Derek. He has been tested in the First Division and now has a great chance to prove himself in the SPL." "It would be wrong to mislead supporters. Every manager wants to better himself. While we will do our best to hold on to Derek McInnes we have to be realistic. If someone comes in offering him the sort of money in a year which most people would happily retire on, he would go." Meanwhile Watford have confirmed that they have not received any bids for defender Mike Williamson amid interest from Birmingham.
