    Rueful Boothroyd wants more

    22 Feb 2007 - 08:47:27

Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has urged his side to be more ruthless in their remaining games following Wednesday's 1-1 stalemate with ten-man Wigan Athletic at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets surged ahead through Darius Henderson's second goal in successive Premiership games following referee Rob Styles' decision to hand Wigan's Fitz Hall a straight red card for a two-footed lunge at Yohann Cavalli.

But Watford let their lead slip as Caleb Folan equalised and Boothroyd has called for an improvement in their remaining 11 games as the Hornets look to avoid relegation from the top-flight.

"If you'd told me before the game that after 25 minutes we'd be one up and they'd had a man sent off I'd probably be doing cartwheels," he said.

"But you've got to make your possession count and we didn't, so instead of having the three points we've got one.

"We only have ourselves to blame and we've got to make sure we make up for it in the 11 remaining games.

"We had the opportunities, we had the possession and we didn't make enough use of it - simple as that.

"And if you don't threaten the opposition goal then you're not going to score."
