Roy Keane closes in on deal to take Bolton's Danny Shittu to Ipswich Town

Ipswich boss Roy Keane is planning a loan move for Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Shittu. Keane is desperate to shore up his leaky defence after no wins in six League games this season. Gary Megson was willing to listen to offers for the £2million-rated Nigeria international but the August transfer deadline came and went with Shittu still at the Reebok Stadium. Keane has spent £8m on seven new players in recent weeks but Ipswich remain second bottom of the Championship with two points. A deal could be done in time for Shittu to make his Ipswich debut during the visit on Tuesday of Nottingham Forest, another club linked with the 29-year-old last month. Shittu was signed from Watford 13 months ago and has yet to appear for Bolton this season.
