Rodgers enjoys Hornets win
11 Dec 2008 - 12:14:32
Watford's new manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted to secure his first win as Hornets boss, as his side edged out Norwich City 2-1 at Vicarage Road.
Goals from Tamas Priskin and Tommy Smith were enough to earn the three points and give Rodgers a much-needed boost.
He told the club's official website: "To get the win is vital for the situation we're in. It's probably the worst we've played since I've come in, but we've had difficult games and I'm delighted.
"I was waiting to hear that final whistle, I think as any manager you just want to get that first win, no matter how it comes. So when that final whistle went I was ecstatic.
"Tonight we got the goals that mattered and we had to dig deep again and we did that.
"I'm just delighted to get the win, because it's an important time for us."
