Rodgers joy at Hornets comeback
The Hornets slipped two goals behind at the Ricoh Arena but second-half goals from Tommy Smith, Gregor Rasiak and Tamas Priskin won the game and ensure Watford's survival.[LNB]Rodgers said: "This is a time of the year when in my last four-and-a-half years I have been at a club that has been competing and challenging for things. This is my first season away from that so I wasn't happy at half-time.[LNB]"We'd played not bad and some of our passing and moving was not bad and we looked like we could score goals but we were not aggressive enough in our defending and needed to penetrate more offensively.[LNB]"We kicked on and showed how we've been since January and to come away with three points, I was delighted.[LNB]"I said from day one that we wouldn't go down but until you are sure mathematically, you know that there is always that small percentage of a chance."[LNB]Coventry took to the field in a chocolate brown strip instead of their usual sky blue as part of the club's 125th anniversary celebrations.[LNB]And the team, who had only scored twice in their last five games prior to kick-off, must have liked the change since they went in front in the 10th minute.[LNB]Freddy Eastwood exchanged passes with Clinton Morrison before hitting a low 10-yard shot into the corner of the net for only his fourth goal of the season - and his first goal since December 20.[LNB]The Sky Blues added to their tally in the 53rd minute when Robbie Simpson was fouled 25 yards from goal by Ross Jenkins. Simpson got up to hammer the ball into the net.[LNB]But Watford refused to be beaten. Smith rattled the bar with a firm shot and when Priskin collected the loose ball, he was fouled by Coventry defender Ben Turner inside the area.[LNB]Smith stepped up on his 300th appearance for the Hornets, saw Keiren Westwood save his spot-kick then stroked home the rebound.[LNB]Priskin's header was then tipped over the bar by Westwood before Rasiak firmly headed the ball into the net from Jobi McAnuff's 61st-minute corner.[LNB]Watford went in front for the first time in the 73rd minute when Jay Demerit's header fell to the feet of Priskin and he knocked the ball home from close range.[LNB]Coventry were reduced to 10 men when Danny Fox was shown a red card for elbowing Priskin.[LNB]Manager Chris Coleman said: "We were 2-0 up and not in trouble but had 10 minutes of mad defending. We cannot be surprised as we have seen a lot of that in the last six to eight games.[LNB]"It's not a good sign and I cannot keep saying the same things. You either learn or you don't. You are either good enough or you are not. And we are not.[LNB]"Yes, last year we stayed up by a point or by goal difference and this year we are clear of that but we are still 17th and the league doesn't lie."[LNB][LNB]
