Poom ends Hornets stint

Former Derby County goalkeeper Mart Poom has had his Watford contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 37-year-old former Estonia international has struggled with injuries during his time at Vicarage Road, making only 19 appearances in his two seasons with the Hornets.

Poom said: "I'm sorry I couldn't have played more games for Watford due to injury, but I certainly enjoyed the matches that I did play in.

"I wish the club all the success in the future."

Goalkeeper coach Alec Chamberlain added: "Mart's professionalism and dedication is second to none.

"By his high standards I'm sure he would have been disappointed with his first year as he had a few niggles.

"But he came back very determined for pre-season and started the season in excellent form and I know he's been frustrated by his injuries."
