    McAnuff signs for Hornets

    05 Jun 2007 - 16:58:36

Watford have completed the signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jobi McAnuff in a deal that could eventually rise to £2million.

The Hornets have agreed to pay an initial £1.75million for the Jamaica international winger, who made 38 appearances and scored five times for the Eagles last season.

McAnuff, 25, started his career at Wimbledon and moved on to West Ham and Cardiff City before returning to London with Crystal Palace two seasons ago.

"I've been after him for a long time," manager Adrian Boothroyd told the club's official website.

"He's two footed, he can shoot, he can cross, he can make goals and he can score goals.

"I think he's still got a lot more to come but he's athletic, he fits the bill and he is hungry enough to want to play in the Premiership.

"He's got a little bit more experience for us. He's knows the division and he knows what's required to win.

"Jobi will stamp his own personality on Watford and become a fans' favourite very quickly."

Boothroyd has already landed experienced duo Mart Poom and Matt Jackson, plus promising midfielder Douglas Rinaldi since the Hornets' relegation from the Premiership was confirmed.
