Mackay: I'm right for Watford

Malky Mackay believes his knowledge of the club makes him the ideal candidate to take the managerial reins at Watford.

Mackay, 37, spent three years as a player with the Hornets before taking up a coaching role after hanging up his boots in 2008.

The former Norwich City and West Ham United defender is set to be unveiled as the new manager of the Championship club on Monday.

"I know the club inside out and I've been in the Championship for ten years now and know everything about it," he said.

"I know how the players at the club tick. I was caretaker manager about six months ago so I feel I can bring a fresh approach.

"I've been working towards this for the last six years and am looking forward to the challenge."
