Mackay only worried about Watford

John Eustace's first-half volley looked to have put the Hornets on course for only their second win in eight matches, but Gordon Strachan put on Leroy Lita five minutes after the restart and the change paid off almost immediately, with the former Reading striker heading home the equaliser just four minutes after coming onto the pitch.[LNB]Mackay said: "It's a point more than we had. I think the performance possibly merited a win today.[LNB]"You look and see whose gained points and whose not gained points, but at the moment we keep looking at ourselves and we keep looking at the games that we've got ahead of us and I look at the performance today and the amount of work-rate and application they put into that and they're still driving forwards with five minutes to go to try and get the winner."[LNB]For Boro, the draw only served to lengthen already long odds of them making the play-offs.[LNB]Gordon Strachan said: "There were so many draws [today] and I think that sums the league up and to get above that then you've got to have, individuals have got to win the game sometimes.[LNB]"It looks like teams are getting draws at the moment and individuals have to come to the fore and we didn't have enough in the first half.[LNB]"People saying 'I want to win the game', 'I want to be the best player on the pitch'. It seemed to be a malaise of ordinary football out there in the first half but the second half was a little bit better."[LNB]However, Strachan is not giving up on the push for the top six.[LNB]"There's always a chance," he said. "We've not done enough at the moment to say we should be in the top six.[LNB]"Whether we'll be able to do something in the last six games to say we should we should be in the top six, then that's it, but at this moment we've not done enough, in terms of winning games, to be in the top six."[LNB]Watford almost went in front inside three minutes when keeper Brad Jones had to dive full length to his right to keep out a 25-yard free-kick from Tom Cleverley.[LNB]But they did make the breakthrough in the 21st minute when the visitors could only half clear a corner to the edge of the area and the unmarked Eustace guided a volley back through a packed goalmouth and past Jones, who did not move.[LNB]But Boro were back on terms nine minutes after the restart. Lita started the move by winning the ball back in midfield and found Gary O'Neil, but his deep cross to the back post looked to be over-hit. However, Julio Arca hooked the ball back in at the far post, Scott Loach could only help the ball further across his goal-mouth and Lita was largely unchallenged as he nodded home.[LNB]But that was to be the only time the Watford defence was undone, and they could have taken all three points when a Cleverley shot was deflected narrowly over and then the unmarked Heidar Helguson failed to make a good contact from six yards out when another Cleverley ball was touched on by Danny Graham.[LNB][LNB]
