Mackay in Magpies warning

19 June 2009 15:15
The relegated Magpies have yet to appoint a manager after Alan Shearer failed to save them from the drop but Mackay - who spent 10 years in the Championship as a player - feels they should have a squad capable of bouncing straight back. "It's been a while since they've been at this level so it will certainly be different for them," said Mackay. "But having said that, with the size and the strength of the squad they have there, on paper they should certainly be very strong. "What they do need to do quickly is appoint a manager who can then stamp his personality on it, whether that is Alan Shearer or someone else."
