Loan switch for Carlisle
02 Mar 2007 - 10:20:51
Watford defender Clarke Carlisle has joined Championship strugglers Luton Town on loan as he battles his way back to full fitness.
The former QPR and Leeds United star moves to Kenilworth Road for an initial 31-day period, which will expire at the end of March.
Carlisle has not played for the Hornets this season because of a thigh problem which also kept him out of last term's Championship play-off final victory against Leeds United.
He is expected to make his Hatters debut against play-off chasing Wolves.
The 27-year-old has made 35 appearances for Aidy Boothroyd's side since joining the club from Leeds at the start of last season.
Carlisle started his career as a trainee at Blackpool before moving to QPR for £250,000 where he spent four seasons.
He joined Leeds on a Bosman free transfer in the summer of 2004 but played for only one season at Elland Road.
