Lee close to Hornets return

Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee is closing in on a first-team return after coming through a midweek reserve game unscathed.

The 25-year-old keeper has been sidelined since picking up a knee injury during pre-season, but played 90 minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Ipswich Town's second string.

"It's great to get Richard through because of the nature of the second half," coach Malky Mackay told the club's official website.

"We were very attack-minded so he had a bit of business to deal with at his end and he pulled off two or three good saves.

"His professionalism shines through when he comes to play in reserve games. I know he's one that the others should look at.

"He's second to none in terms of his enthusiasm and also the standards that he sets."
