King blow rocks Hornets
05 Nov 2006 - 09:32:52
Watford striker Marlon King will miss the rest of the season after being forced to undergo surgery on a knee injury.
The 26-year-old was injured in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on October 14 and has now been forced to go under the knife.
Boss Aidy Boothroyd told the club's official website: "It is a blow to lose such an important player and a great character, but Marlon will be back and he will be stronger for it.
"Marlon went in for a routine operation on his cartilage and unfortunately they found some bone had flaked away from his femur."
Meanwhile, the Hornets have handed a new long-term contract to promising French winger Hameur Bouazza, keeping him at Vicarage Road until the summer of 2010.
The 21-year-old has progressed through the youth ranks with the club, signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2003.
This season Bouazza has been a regular starter for Boothroyd's side, netting an equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic in late September.
