Hornets snare Sodje on loan

Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has responded to the growing injury crisis at Vicarage Road by snapping up Reading's Sam Sodje on a month-long loan deal.

The 30-year-old central defender joins the Hornets as cover for captain Jay DeMerit, who hobbled out of the action in Tuesday's Carling Cup victory against West Ham United.

Sodje moved to Reading from Brentford for £350,000 in the summer of 2006 but has failed to become a regular in Steve Coppell's first-team plans, starting only six games for the Royals.

He has been loaned out to West Brom and Charlton Athletic in the last 18 months.
