Watford have signed Leeds United centre-half Clarke Carlisle for £100,000 on a three-year contract.
The 25-year-old had spent just a single season at Elland Road, having made his name at Blackpool and QPR.
Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd told the club's official website: "He's exactly the type of defender I wanted and I'm absolutely delighted that he's coming here.
"We had to fend off the advances of several clubs to get Clarke's signature and he's going to be a fantastic player for Watford."
