Watford have released Chris Powell following the conclusion of the veteran defender's Vicarage Road contract.
Powell, 37, signed for the Hornets last summer following his release by Charlton Athletic.
The former England international started the campaign as manager Adrian Boothroyd's first-choice left-back but, following an early-season injury, ultimately lost his place to Jordan Stewart.
"Chris was always going to be a short-term player for us," Boothroyd told the club's official website.
"When players are out of the team they can be disruptive, but not Chris Powell, he is the ultimate professional.
"He is a very, very genuine guy and I enjoyed working with him very much."
Powell, who made 18 appearances during Watford's one-year stay in the Premier League, added: "It was a good year for me and a learning curve for everyone at the club.
"I would like to thank the supporters, the players and the staff for making me feel so welcome, it was a privilege to wear the yellow shirt.
"I have to move on, but I'll be looking on with great interest at Watford's results and I hope to see everyone real soon."
