Hornets handed Cowie blow

Watford manager Brendan Rodgers fears that midfielder Don Cowie could miss most of the rest of the season due to a thigh injury.

The 26-year-old has impressed since his January arrival from Inverness Caley Thistle, but was injured after scoring in the 2-1 victory at Doncaster Rovers.

Rodgers told the Watford Observer: "Don had a scan during the week and it was a little bit more serious than we first thought.

"He won't be back until towards the last game of the season, which is disappointing because he's been fantastic.

"I think we missed him the other night against Southampton, for his footballing intelligence and his eye for a goal.

"However, we've got players to come in and we want to make sure he recovers from the injury."
