Hornets cut Stewart loose

Watford have allowed left-back Jordan Stewart to leave the club ahead of their Championship play-off campaign. The 26-year-old was out of contract in the summer and had turned down the offer of a new deal at Vicarage Road, having lost his regular starting spot to Mat Sadler. Manager Aidy Boothroyd told the club's official website: "We had a chat and decided that it would be best if Jordan began the next chapter of his career now rather than later. "Jordan has only ever wanted to play and I can't guarantee him that, especially at this stage of the season. He was my first signing and I will always remember him fondly for that. "His smile was infectious and we'll miss him around the place, but we wish him well for the rest of his career." Stewart joined the Hornets in the summer of 2005 from Leicester City and scored twice in 118 appearances for the club.
