Hornets accept Cleverley ban

Watford have opted not to appeal against the red card dished out to Tom Cleverley during the 2-2 weekend draw at Scunthorpe United.

The Manchester United loanee was dismissed late on in the game at Glanford Park following a clash with home midfielder Michael O'Connor, who was not punished at the time, but has now also been handed a three-match ban.

Hornets boss Malky Mackay has fumed after the game: "I think the referee's card was out very quickly and the next minute there are eight or nine players crowding around Tom Cleverley.

"There is various contact made to him and I cannot believe the referee has stood back and watched that and then the game goes on.

"Tom's head is in his hands and he has no idea who is hitting him or near him. I see so many bodies around him and I am disappointed with the referee's decision."
