Hornets yet to agree Aldred fee

Carlisle are still considering the offer of compensation from Watford over the transfer of Tom Aldred. The 20-year-old rejected a new deal from the Cumbrians in favour of a switch to Vicarage Road, but due to the player's age the League One outfit are entitled to compensation. However, if an agreement cannot be reached the clubs may have to go to a tribunal to settle on a fee. Abbott told the Watford Observer: "The offer is still being considered at this stage." Elsewhere, released Hornets midfielder Billy Gibson, who spent time with the Cumbrians at the end of last season, will join Carlisle for a pre-season trial period this week.
