Hornets set to name Mackay as boss
Mackay played at Vicarage Road for three years before managing the club on a caretaker basis following the departure of Adrian Boothroyd in 2008.
The Hornets are currently seeking a new boss following Rodgers' departure for Reading at the beginning of June.
A number of names have been linked with the position, but it is understood Mackay is set to be unveiled at the beginning of next week.
