Hornets boss: This is my club

Mackay was this week named as the successor to Brendan Rodgers, who shocked Vicarage Road by leaving to take over at Reading after just six months in charge. Mackay, who was on Rodgers' coaching staff, said: "I just got a phone call saying he was leaving so it did come as a surprise. But they are his club, he played for them. "You can look at it both ways. Some guys want to advance their careers but on the other hand some would like the chance to stick with one club. You don't get many Sir Alex Fergusons or Dario Gradis these days. "But this is my club, I know it inside out. I know the players and I know the community. "I was in the team that got promoted and I played in the Premier League for them. My family live here and my daughter was born here. The club is in my blood."
